This week’s music news
John Baizley from Baroness joins Mastodon as third Guitarist for their fall tour
Can anyone say HELL YEAH!? I can’t think of a better match for some old school Mastodon jams this fall on the The Poisonous Weapons Tour. If you aren’t excited, then you are wrong! Let us know if you plan on checking it out in the comments!
Oasis announces 2027 U.S Tour. Take a look at these prices….
Oasis just announced a second leg of their reunion tour for 2027. I already knew the answer, but checked up on how much a ticket costs for this. As it turns out the “standard tickets are priced between $122.65 and $541.05, including fees and taxes”. For us, the answer is not only “no” but the answer is “fuck no”. If everyone took 541 dollars and divided that into attending 10 smaller shows supporting independent or and emerging bands, then the underground would thrive. The consumer would also have a much more quality experience. Now if we could only get those booze prices down! AMIRIGHT House of Blues!?
Gen Z loves CD’s
According to the latest data, Gen Z is representing the resurgence of physical music sales with a renewed interest in CD’s. Apparently the biggest objection at the merch table is“I’d buy it, but I don’t have a CD player.” This is an opportunity to education the young ones that CD players still exist and are more accessible than ever. Now lets really test the theory that Gen Z loves CD’s and keep an eye open to see if they end up running out to buy the new 39 disc boxed set from Bob Dylan coming November 26.
Metallica Announces 2027 U.S Spring Tour
Welp, we just beat up Oasis, so we might as well do the same thing to Metallica at this point. Another tour announcement for rich people, and dumb poor people. This is why the working class will never be able to retire. Imagine what a 600 dollars could do in a retirement account with compounding interest y’all! I know. It’s not #rocknroll to talk about this shit. Aw well, at least Metallica will be able to retire. I saw them on the Black Album tour for 25 bucks. Nosebleed ticket prices for this stadium tour currently starts at 300 dollars. What the hell happened!? Woof!
Pepper Keenan from COC & Down Talks Solo Album
Pepper Keenan from Corrosion of Conformity & Down is working on his first solo album. Hopefully it sounds like 70’s Lynyrd Skynyrd and Thin Lizzy. I always wondered why the guy never released solo material before. An album of ‘Stare Too Long’s’ would be amazing. COC fans know what I’m talking about here. Take my money Pep…
TSRP Hot Take of the week
If I was a billionaire I still wouldn’t pay 600 dollars for a concert ticket. On principle alone. Support smaller bands when and where you can y’all.
